Away from the bustle of the busy Algarvian beaches, the complex looks out towards the hillside of Sao Miguel and from all nine holes of the course there is a view of the Ria Formosa and the sea, with the fishing village of Fuseta. This course places special emphasis on control when teeing off since it consists of a loop of 9 short holes (one par 4 and the others par 3). Logically, this single par 4 (or 2) hole is the longest at 245 meters; the fifth hole is one of the most interesting with a green that is well protected by the lake situated in the middle of the grounds. The countryside surrounding the Colina Verde course is characterized by wild flowers and the small trees and shrubs that are typical of the region, such as mastic trees, olive and carob.
Course Data
Architect: José António Cavaco
Opened: 2003
Holes: 9
Par: 28
Length: 1.145 meters
Facilities: Range Nets, Putting Green, Chipping Area, Locker Rooms, Pro-shop, Tennis Courts, Swimming Pool, Fitness Center, Clubhouse with Restaurant & Bar, Aparthotel Maragota
____________________________________________________________

Benamor

the first golf course to open east of the capital of the Algarve, Faro, and lies just outside of Tavira.

The owning Martins Dias family invited the late Sir Henry Cotton make a concept design for an 18-hole course. Sir Henry was inspired by the beautiful church next to the site of the Clubhouse and by its spectacular location. The final result is a delightful par 71 golf course of 5.500mt (6.100 yards).

The course was official opened in March 2000. This course offers a pleasant experience, to players of all standards. The course is undulating but not hilly. The views of the mountains to the North and the Atlantic Ocean to the South are stunning. The Penn A4 greens and tees are simply superb. The fairways of Bermuda Sahara and cool-season grasses provide good lies for wood and iron shots.

Player’s accuracy is particularly called upon by the architect’s retention of as many of the old trees as feasible. These natural obstacles coupled with strategic placed bunkers and occasional water hazards make the course a worthwhile challenge. This course was selected as the Best Maintained Course for 2001 by the Portuguese Golf Federation.

Course Data
Architect: Sir Henry Cotton
Opened: 2000
Holes: 18
Par: 71
Length: 5.500 meters
Pro's: Keith Ashdown
Requirements: Handicap Certificate is required.
Max. Located close to the historic town of Castro Marim the course runs through undulating hills dotted with pines and offering players beautiful views of the Atlantic Ocean, with occasional views over the River Guadiana to neighboring Spain, and the nearby nature reserve.
The recently built course is part of a truly exceptional tourist development, designed to provide unforgettable moments of leisure. It has a very special setting in the peaceful atmosphere of the eastern Algarve and was the first course to be built in this region, The design of the so-called "Atlantic Course" made use of the natural undulations of the hills and is sprinkled with many ornamental lakes. The fairways have been made with Bermuda grass, whilst the greens are made with the new Penn A4 grass. This course askes for careful play due to its strategically placed water hazards and fairway terrain that can get you into trouble This is not mention the well placed bunkers waiting for an erring ball
What makes Castro Marim Golf & Country Club really special is its unique blend of history, culture, nature, river, sea, beach and sporting facilities in one single setting, together with its exceptional service and quality. Its proximity to the Benamor Course has meant that there is now a new major golfing centre in the Algarve.
Course Data
Architect: Various
Opened: 2000
Holes: 18
Par: 72
Length: 6.250 meters
Grass Types: Fairways: Bermuda
Greens: Penn A4
Pro's: David Holder
Requirements: Knowledge of golf etiquette
Facilities: Driving Range, Putting Green, Trolleys, Caddies, Club Hire, Pro-shop, Practice Nets, Children’s Nursery, Mini Golf, Sauna, Swimming Pool, Tennis Courts, Restaurant, Bar.
Green Fees
(16th September 2004 to 31st May 2005)
18 Holes - € 54.00 // 9 Holes - € 27.00
-Groups of 8 persons plus: 18 Holes - € 48.50
-Junior (under 17 years): 18 Holes - € 37.50 // 9 Holes - € 19.00
3 Green Fee Package - € 120.00 // 6 Green Fee Package - € 214.50
Handicap Requirements
Soft spikes
-Equipment
Golf Buggy: 18 Holes - € 32.50 // 9 Holes - € 16.25
Trolley: 18 Holes - € 3.50 // 9 Holes - € 1.75
Club Rental: 18 Holes - € 27.50 // 9 Holes - € 14.00
-Driving Range
Token with 25 Balls - € 1.50
5 Tokens - € 6.00
-Lessons
Individual 30 minutes - € 22.50
Individual 60 minutes - € 45.00
2 persons - 60 minutes - € 45.00
3 persons - 60 minutes - € 60.00
4 persons - 60 minutes - € 75.00
________________________________________________________________________

Quinta da Ria

This spectacular 18 hole golf course is in the Ria Formosa Natural Park and spreads along an almost flat surface of 660 m2 down to the Ria Formosa itself, hanging over it and with a stunning view of the sea. It is a par 72, comprising two loops of 9 holes and each loop with 2 par 5, five par 4 and two par 3 holes. Its total length is about 6.016 meters.

Five lakes were strategically built along the course, specifically near greens 5, 10 and 14. Hole 16, par 5, is played between the two biggest lakes. The green of par 3 nr. 17 is limited by one of these lakes where an island with various bird fauna may be found. Besides the beauty the lakes render to the course, they are also used as water reservoirs for the irrigation and are nourished by a stream.

Most of the night irrigation water is recovered through drainage, reaching the lakes through an intelligent modulation of the ground. The greens, smoothly undulating, are well protected by bunkers. Greens, tees and fairways are covered with Bent Crenshaw and the roughs with Poa Pretensis with Festuca.

More than 300 trees, such as olive and carob have been transplanted in order to maintain the ancient border of the course and the typical features of the regions landscape. It seems as if the course is of the same age as its centenary trees. From any place in the site, one can see both the mountains and the sea. The surrounding orange trees and vineyards give their contribution to make the course's country landscape even more beautiful.
Next to the Quinta da Ria Golf Course is the 18 hole Quinta de Cima Golf Course.
Course Data
Architect: Rocky Roquemore
Opening Date: March 2002
Holes: 18
Par: 72
Length: 6.016 meters
Grass Types: Fairways, Tees and Greens: Bent Crenshaw
Requirements: Handicap Certificate is required.
Max. The course is bordered to the north by the national road 125 and spreads to the south, where its limits are a municipal road that leads to the Quinta da Ria Golf Course. Bent Crenshaw greens, tees and fairways are covered with Zoysia.
On one of the Driving Ranges, (with its generous dimensions and built in the south/north direction), when hitting from the northern tees, one can appreciate the magnificent view of the mountains as well as the Ocean. Though from any part of the course both the sea and the Algarve mountains are a delight to anyone's eyes,
On the other Driving Range, designed for practice with irons, there is the Robinson Golf Academy. It comprises of 3 greens and 6 tees for the teaching of the different types of game with irons, namely how to get out of a bunker to a green 120 m distant.
Course Data
Architect: Rocky Roquemore
Opening Date: July 2002
Holes: 18
Par: 72
Length: 6.256 meters (championship)
Grass Types: Fairways: Bent Crenshaw and Soysia, Tees and Greens: Bent Crenshaw
Requirements: Current Handicap Certificate. Extraordinary soft white sandy beaches, clear blue sea and fascinating cliffs are part of its charm.

This was the last course designed by the legendary Sir Henry Cotton, the triple winner of the British Open. It embodies his belief that a golf course should test players with low handicaps, but also provides a pleasant game for golfers of only average level. After his death, the project continued with Peter Dobereiner, a well-known golf journalist.

The course, with the beautiful Monchique mountains as its back-drop, runs through two valleys and offers winding fairways and gently undulating greens.

Course Data
Architect: Sir Henry Cotton & Peter Dobereiner
Opened: 1991
Holes: 18
Par: 72
Length: 6.125 meters
Pro's: Robert Bridge and Leonel Altura
Requirements: A Handicap Certificate
Facilities: Driving Range, Putting Green, Pitching Area (with bunkers), Trolleys, Club Hire, Pro-shop, Children's Nursery, Restaurant, Bar.

Green Fees
(02.10.2004 to 01.10.2005)
Oct-Nov-Feb-Mar-Apr (until 15th)
18 Holes - € 50.00 // 9 Holes - € 25.00
Week Card - € 350.00 // Monthly Card-€ 1,050.00
Dec-Jan-May (16th until 31st)-Jun-Jul-Aug-Sept
18 Holes - € 40.00 // 9 Holes - € 20.00
Week Card-€ 280.00 // Monthly Card-€ 840.00
Handicap Requirements
Soft spikes

-Equipment
Golf Buggy: 18 Holes - € 35.00 // 9 Holes - € 25.00
Trolley: Per round - € 5.00
Club Rental: Per round - € 25.00

-Driving Range
Bucket of 50 Balls - € 4.50
Club Hire - € 2.00

-Lessons
One hour Lesson - € 45.00
30 minutes Lesson - € 25.00
Group Lessons (Minimum of 4 persons) - € 16.00
Course Play (Green Fees included)
Individual (One hour) - € 45.00
Group (2 to 8 Players) - € 34.00 to € 45.00 per person

________________________________________________________________________

Vale da Pinta

Designed by the North American Ronald Fream, whose style involves the preservation of nature in his projects, the twin course of Quinta do Gramacho, but with a full 18 holes. It is set in the Pestana Golf Resort.

The course is set in a true Algarve landscape almond, olive and carob trees remaining thru out the course on top of small rolling valleys and hills, Running thru an old olive grove, where some of the trees are reputed to be more than 900 years old.

Fream has created wide, deep greens protected by a total of 59 similarly sized bunkers.

The challenges posed by the course are adaptable to differing levels of skill. This is achieved by the presence of five sets of tees for each of its holes. So those players with handicaps ranging from scratch to 12 can play off the black marks placed further back. White marks are for those handicapped between 13 and 20. For ladies there are red marks (from scratch to 28 handicap) and blue marks for lady beginners.

As of September 1996 the David Leadbetter Golf Academy, which is Europe's fifth largest, established a presence at this development.
Course Data
Architect: Ronald Fream
Opened: 1992
Holes: 18
Par: 71
Length: 6.728 meters
Pro's: Nelson Cavalheiro & Carlos Ribeiro
Requirements: Handicap Certificate. It is part of the Pestana Golf Resort situated in the heart of Algarve.
The Gramacho Course is unique with 27 greens being the only one of its type of design on the continent of Europe, it is one of only a few courses in the world with 18 sets of tees and 27 greens but only 18 fairways.
As with the Pinta Course, the preparation and condition is at tournament standard year round. Holes 1 through 4 and 14 through 18 have two greens which may change your game plan depending on which greens are in play The terrain is liberally dotted with carob, fig, palm, almond and olive trees, some of which are more than 600 years old.
The use of existing features of the land, outcrops of rock, dry stone walls, fig, almond, carob and olive trees, have been augmented by well positioned bunkers and lakes. These hazards, combined with the shaping of the fairways and greens, have produced a wonderful array of challenging but fair golf holes. From the first tee shot to then pitch to the final green, the player must not only strike the ball and putt well, but also utilize the best strategy, to produce a good score. Experienced golfers will certainly acknowledge that they played a very fine golf course with a testing par of 71 and more than sufficient length at 6107 meters.
While designing and constructing the golf course Pinta and Gramacho, Ron Fream and Nick Price, did the impossible, they combined the hilly picturesque course with the artistic fairways and used the ancient olive trees,
Course Data
Architect: Ronald Fream
Opened: 1991
Holes: 2 x 9
Par: 72
Length: 5.919 meters
Requirements: Handicap Certificate required: Max. The experienced Cotton was one of the firsts to recognize the Algarve's huge potential as a golfing destination. The quality and the success of his work encouraged the subsequent construction of many other courses that now exist in the region.
The hotel and golf club are unique when it comes to outstanding views, a calm and tranquil setting, and shows nature at its best. The golf club is a member of the Audubon Co-operative Sanctuary System.

The Penina Championship Course has several bunkers, hundreds of thousands of trees, plenty of water with wide greens and a vast tee area, making this a real championship course.
The sequence of the holes is very original, for the last nine holes both begin and end with two Par 5. Therefore, the first half of the course is Par 35, while Par for the other nine holes is 38. A new lake has been created to protect hole 5's green and more water has been added around green 13, transforming it into a small island. These are some of the details included in the transformation of the original design, as well as the deepening of the bunkers and the rebuilding of tees according to modern techniques. 40 thousand tons of sand was used to build up the new fairways and 200 kilometers of electric wires were needed to install the new computerized irrigation system.
Two nine hole courses (now re-named the Resort Course and Academy Course) are the ideal complement to the Championship course.
Course Data
Architect: Sir Henry Cotton
Opened: 1966
Holes: 18 (Championship Course)
Par: 73
Length: 6.273 meters
Pro's: Robert Liddle, José Lourenço Marcelino
Requirements: A Handicap Certificate.
Max. Located in a beautiful location in the Western Algarve on a headland between Lagos and Praia da Luz, magnificent views of the bay of Lagos, and the distant Monchique hills. Set in the Boavista Resort, a 250-acre Residential and Leisure development. Designed by Howard Swan, the course has been successfully integrated into the existing natural terrain; his use of natural features makes Boavista a delight to the eye.
The course is presented in two distinct sections, the holes near to the entrance of Boavista Resort have been designed in a way to introduce rough off the fairway which is managed to the highest standards by the green-keeping staff for play all year round. Holes 5 to 12 have a more traditional and natural presentation as they are on an environmentally sensitive area. A number of the plants and wildlife in this section are protected and great care has been taken during the construction of the golf course to blend the layout without damaging the natural beauty of this cliff-top location, so along with your clubs bring your cameras for some great pictures.
Each hole at Boavista has been carefully planned to offer an interesting golf experience for every level of golfer to enjoy. The views from the 7th hole, the furthest extent of the golf course, take in the beach at Praia da Luz all the way along to the headland at Sagres, the southern most point in continental Europe.
Course Data
Architect: Howard Swan
Opened: 2002
Holes: 18
Par: 71
Length: 5.751 meters
Facilities: Driving Range, Chipping Greens, Golf Academy, Pro Shop, Snacks & Bar
Green Fees
(01-11-2004 to 31-10-2005)
-Jan, Jun, Jul, Aug & Dec
18 Holes - € 40.00
3 Rounds - € 100.00 // 5 Rounds - € 170.00
7 Rounds - € 235.00
-Feb, Mar, Apr, May, Sept, Oct, Nov
18 Holes - € 60.00
3 Rounds - € 155.00 // 5 Rounds - € 255.00
7 Rounds - € 355.00
Juniors - Discounts available
Handicap Requirements
Soft spikes

-Equipment
Golf Buggy: 18 Holes - € 35.00
Trolleys: 18 Holes - € 5.00
Club Rental: As provided - € 25.00
________________________________________________________________________

Palmares

is a showpiece for the imagination of Frank Pennink, one of the most prolific golf course designers in Portugal.

At Palmares, which is close to the beautiful and historic town of Lagos, Pennink has created a course of undeniable beauty and quality.

The reputation of the course - a Par 71 - derives from its skilful use of two different kinds of landscape, as well as its excellent level of maintenance.
So, after starting out on a difficult dogleg Par 4 from a high tee, the golfer soon gets into the links which run behind the beach of Meia Praia, a great expanse of white sand and high dunes.

At hole number six the course turns back inland in the direction of the clubhouse. From here on, the player faces just the opposite challenge, with holes designed along curvy valleys bordered by pine trees, and affording beautiful views over Lagos Bay and the Monchique mountains. It is a perfect mixture of links and inland golf. From the veranda of the clubhouse, set between holes 9 and 10, the view covers 25 km of Atlantic ocean coast.
Course Data
Architect: Frank Pennink
Opened: 1975
Holes: 18
Par: 71
Length: 5.961 meters
Pro's: Luís Espadinha & José Dias
Requirements: A Handicap Certificate
Facilities: Driving Range, Putting and Chipping Green, Trolleys, Buggies, Club Hire, Pro-shop, Restaurant, Bar, Snack bar.
Green Fees
(01.11.2004 to 31.10.2005)
-Nov-Feb-Mar-Apr-May-Sept (15th to 30th)-Oct
18 Holes - € 83.00 // 9 Holes - € 45.00
-Jan-Jun-Jul-Aug-Sept (1st to 14th)-Dec
Junior Card (under 21 years) - 50% discount on Green fees
Handicap Requirements
Soft spikes

-Equipment
Golf Buggy: 18 Holes - € 42.00 // 9 Holes - € 35.00
Electric Trolley: 18 or 9 Holes - € 22.00
Manual Trolley: 18 or 9 Holes - € 5.00
Club Rental: Wilson - € 25.00 // Nike - € 40.00

-Lessons
1 Pax 2 Pax 3 Pax 4Pax
Half-hour € 25.00 € 30.00 € 30.00 € 40.00
One hour € 40.00 € 45.00 € 50.00 € 55.00

________________________________________________________________________

Parquet de floresta

was designed by Pepe Gancedo, one of Spain's most famous architects, whose philosophy of golf course construction involves minimal alteration to the existing terrain.

Parque da Floresta, the centre of a resort, and its course runs over hills behind the fishing village of Salema, which is near the historic town of Lagos and not far from the Costa Vicentina Nature Reserve.

Its widely varying holes run through valleys and eucalyptus-covered ravines, while around the course old In recent years there has been a considerable investment made in the course, including the addition of a Golf Academy and the redesign of several holes. From the opening par 4 that curves gracefully towards the early morning sun, to the majestic par 4 eighteenth set in a natural amphitheatre below the Clubhouse terrace, this course has already become famous for having some classic golf holes. The "Postage Stamp" par 3 fifth of just 113 meters to the smallest of bunker-surrounded greens makes an accurate tee shot essential. The par 5 ninth ranks among the toughest stroke-index 1 holes ever designed. The picturesque, short par 3 eleventh - guarded on two sides by water - is one of the most inviting holes you could wish to play and is followed by a par 5 that leads up the "Valley of the Wells" to another elevated green. Having played along the "Lost Valley" of the par 4 fourteenth, with its spectacular views to the village of Figueira and the sea, you are faced with the dramatic tee shot of the par 3 fifteenth. Here, on the tee, players are presented with an imposing view of a large, picturesque lake that has to be carried in order to reach the wide, but shallow, green. Water again comes into play on the sixteenth and seventeenth where bold, yet accurate, tee shots will reap dividends for the brave, although both holes also prove rewarding to those golfers with higher handicaps.
Course Data
Architect: Pepe Gancedo
Opened: 1987
Holes: 18
Par: 71
Length: 5673 meters
Requirements: Handicap certificate preferred
Dress Code: Soft spikes, tailored shorts and collared shirts only
Facilities: Driving Range, Putting Green, Pitching Area, Trolleys, Buggies, Club Hire, Pro-shop, Academy, Children's Nursery, Restaurant, Bar
Green Fees
(01.11.2004 to 301.10.2005)
18 Holes - € 70.00 // 9 Holes - € 42.00
Daily unlimited - € 85.00
Junior (under 15 years): 18 Holes - € 32.00 // 9 Holes - € 19.00
Handicap Requirements
Soft spikes

-Equipment
Golf Buggy: 18 Holes - € 40.00 // 9 Holes - € 26.00
All Day - € 62.00
Electric Trolley: 18 Holes - € 18.00 // 9 Holes - € 12.00
Manual Trolley: 18 Holes - € 5.00 // 9 Holes - € 5.00
Callaway Graphite Clubs
18 Holes - € 35.00 // 9 Holes - € 25.00
Callaway Steel Shaft Clubs
18 Holes - € 30.00 // 9 Holes - € 20.00
Wilson Steel Shaft ProStaff Clubs
18 Holes - € 26.00 // 9 Holes - € 19.00
Shoes: Free socks with each rental - € 15.00

-Driving Range
Token for 50 Balls - € 6.00
Range Card (value 10 tokens) - € 45.00

-Lessons
-Golf Lessons
1 Person (1/2 Hour) - € 40.00 // (One Hour) - € 65.00
2 Person (1/2 Hour) - € 25.00 // (One Hour) - € 40.00
-Golf Course Playing Lesson
1 Person: 18 Holes - € 200.00 // 9 Holes - € 175.00
2 Persons: 18 Holes - € 110.00 // 9 Holes - € 95.00
-Computer Video Analysis (On request)
1 Person: Per Hour - € 85.00 // 2 Persons: Per Hour - € 50.00
-Golfers' School (On request - Max. 4 Pax)
3 Day Course - € 180.00 // 5 Day Course - € 300.00

Almancil

Ocean course

of Vale de Lobo, hosted, in 1987, the Portugal Ladies Open (part of the WPG European Tour) has matured since its inauguration in 1966.

Originally, the course had 18 holes, designed by Sir Henry Cotton. This is because of its more interrupted terrain, the amount of water and sand obstacles and its generally longer holes

However the original design is by Sir Henry Cotton, but Rocky Roquemore's design trademarks are visible along the course. The US architect, very active nowadays in Portugal, has been responsible for the enlargement of the "yellow" course.

The high point of the Royal Golf Course is its famous Par 3, one of the most photographed in the world because of its unique conditions. To play this hole from the championship tee, one needs a 218 meter stroke over three spectacular cliffs to reach the green after crossing a lake. The golf club is a member of the Audubon Co-operative Sanctuary System.
The course features large fast greens and undulating fairways which meander through avenues of pine trees. There are some spectacular holes overlooking the sea, which border lakes abundant with wildlife.
Situated in the Quinta do Lago development and forming part of the Natural Park of Ria Formosa, a round on this course begins with an enticing but almost unachievable Par 5, before continuing to the three following holes along rolling, pine tree-fringed fairways. It is from hole number 5, however, that the most extraordinary part begins, offering wonderful views over the Atlantic Ocean. At hole number eight the course turns back inland and faces the largest of the lakes. For the next four holes the course again turns seawards and ends with the daunting 18th, with a semi-island green, is one of the best finishing holes in golf. San Lorenzo is beautifully maintained and set in an unspoilt area of natural beauty. A handicap limit of 28 for men and 36 for ladies applies. The course also has an excellent practice area.
But sadly this course is only accessible by guests of the Hotel Le Meridien Dona Filipa.
Course Data
Architect: Joseph Lee
Opened: 1988
Holes: 18
Par: 72
Length: 6,825 meters
Requirements: Current Handicap Certificate, Men: 28, Ladies: 36
Facilities: Driving-range, Chipping and Bunker practice area, putting green, Club Hire, Trolleys, Buggies, Academy, Golf Shop, Bar, Restaurant
Green Fees
(01.11.2004 to 31.10.2005)
18 Holes - € 150.00 // 9 Holes - € 75.00
Hotel Dona Filipa Guests:
18 Holes - € 60.00 // 9 Holes - € 35.00
Handicap Requirements
Soft spikes

-Equipment
Golf Buggy: 18 Holes - € 51.00 // 9 Holes - € 28.00
Electric Trolley: 18 Holes - € 21.00
Manual Trolley: 18 Holes - € 8.00
Club Rental: Callaway Clubs - € 45.00 // Normal Clubs - € 36.00

-Driving Range
Token with 24 Balls - € 4.00

-Lessons
Individual
30 minutes lesson - € 35.00
60 minutes lesson - € 60.00

Albufeira

Balaia

Based on a 9-hole (all par 3) loop, the Balaia Golf Village is an ideal course for beginners or for perfecting distance control. The undulations of the fairways and the excellent condition of the greens are also attractions, as well as the convenient location close to the road between Albufeira and Vilamoura. All 9 holes can be seen from the first tee. An old wooden bridge joins two lakes opposite the green at the first hole and is the main feature of the landscape. The length of the holes varies between 67 and 160 meters, requiring precision when driving off. The third hole is the shortest with a high, sloping green, well protected by a bunker; the next hole is the longest, flanked by oak trees and with two bunkers on the right. After the sixth hole, the course heads back to the imposing clubhouse that dominates the complex: the bar and restaurant lead on to a large terrace that overlooks the course, the complex and the Atlantic in the distance.
Course Data:
Architect: Southern Golf
Opened: 2001
Holes: 9
Par: 27
Length: 984 meters
Facilities: Driving Range, Chipping Green (with bunkers), Putting Green, Trolley, Buggy Hire & Club Hire, Pro-shop, Locker Rooms, Clubhouse with Restaurant & Bar. The nine hole course is not very long - only two holes run to more than 360 meters - yet, despite this, it presents an interesting challenge for the golfer, regardless of handicap. As well as concerning himself with the playing area, Hawtree was careful to leave the surrounding land undisturbed and largely as it was before the course was built.

The perfectly-kept course opens with two undemanding holes, but the challenge gets tougher from the third hole.

Course Data
Architect: Martin Hawtree
Opened: 1991
Holes: 9
Par: 33
Length: 2,051 meters
Pro's: Manuel Baptista & Norman Wharton
Requirements: A Handicap Certificate.
Max. 36 for men and ladies
Dress Code: Strict - tailored shorts, collared shirts
Facilities: Driving Range, Putting Green, Trolleys, Club Hire, Pro-shop, Restaurant, Bar, Hotel.
Green Fees
Visitors - (01.02.04 to 31.05.04 & 01.09.04 to 30.11.04)
18 Holes - € 80.00 // 9 Holes - € 50.00
Junior: 18 Holes - € 70.00 // 9 Holes - € 45.00
Visitors - (01.01.03 to 31.01.04 & June & August & Dec)
18 Holes - € 75.00 // 9 Holes - € 48.00
Junior: 18 Holes - € 68.00 // 9 Holes - € 43.00
Handicap Requirements
Soft spikes

-Equipment
Electric Trolley: 18 Holes - € 20.00 // 9 Holes - € 14.00
Manual Trolley: 18 Holes - € 10.00 // 9 Holes - € 7.00
Club Rental: Standard Clubs: Full Set - € 45.00 // Half Set - € 28.00
Hire of Shoes (socks incl.) - € 14.96
Daily Locker Hire - € 4.99

-Driving Range
Token with 46 Balls - € 5.50

-Lessons
Individual per Person (incl. balls and clubs)
Adult: 25 minutes - € 48.00 // 50 minutes - € 76.00
Children (6-12 years):
25 minutes - € 39.00 // 50 minutes - € 60.00
Group Classes of 50 minutes (incl. balls and clubs)
Golf Clinic of 7 Lessons
(incl. The proximity of the sea (set behind the beach of praia de gale) and the variety of lakes make this a very interesting test of golfing skills, different to other courses in the Algarve.

The original project is by the Portuguese designer Pedro de Vasconcelos, with more recent contributions from other Portuguese architects. But the final layout has been heavily influenced by Robert Muir Graves.

The 6,000 meter links, has little vegetation but is filled with water hazards, you will need all your skills to reach the greens. Due to prevailing onshore winds the accuracy of the drive is crucial for achieving good scores, thus making the course a pleasant experience, especially for technically-skilled players.

The eighteen holes are well balanced, as each half of the course has two Par 5 holes of around 500 meters and three Par 3 of more than 170 meters.
Course Data
Architects: Pedro de Vasconcelos & Robert Moir Graves
Opened: 1995
Holes: 18
Par: 72
Length: 6.080 meters
Pro: John Wood
Requirements: A Handicap Certificate. Frank Pennink (designer) wanted to create a course in Algarve that would resemble those beautiful, challenging British courses. With great success he achieved it

Opened in 1969, the fairways of the course run through surrounding pine trees and laid out in an interesting way to take advantage of the natural contours. This is a very attractive course with a great variety of holes.

The Par 3 holes are all different and visually very beautiful, representing the toughest challenge on the course. They require careful selection of irons and near-perfect ball control. Over the rest of the course, trees play a decisive role, lining the doglegs and punishing any careless strokes. The greens are small, especially on the shorter holes, where there is simply no margin for error.

A unique feature of this course is the fact that Par is 73, despite the fact that among its last nine holes there are no less than four with a Par 5.
It was selected for the Portuguese Open in 1979, in which Bran Barnes was victor.

Course Data
Architect: Frank Pennink - Remodeled by Martin Hawtree in 1996
teeing off times: every 9 minutes
Pro: Joaquim Sequira
Requirements: A Handicap Certificate, Maximum handicaps accepted: Men=24, Ladies=28
Dress Code: Only soft spikes are allowed. Opened in 1990 and designed by Joseph Lee, the course makes full use of the wet, marshy level ground near the sea.

The layout is very different from the other Vilamoura courses. Here the golfer can drive off with more confidence, because of the greater width of the fairways. Level terrain and few trees present no difficulties, where you might get into trouble is the many water hazards with strategically placed bunkers in open terrain.
this course it visually intimidating, but because it is not very long, the golfer may complete it without great difficulty. The result is that the satisfaction of the golfer, after finishing his holes, is even greater.
Course Data
Architect: Joseph Lee
Teeing off times every 8 minutes
Pro: Abílio Coelho
Requirements: Handicap Certificate is required.
Max. As a result, the golfer is confronted by very different kinds of play.

Built in the middle of a beautiful pine wood, with panoramic views over the sea, The outward nine holes wander through the holiday villas that line the fairways. one of the main characteristics of this course is the small size of its greens, requiring great precision from the golfer in terms of approach shots. Well positioned bunkers thru out the course make it enjoyable for the player, testing their choice of clubs and their accuracy.
In 1988 this course hosted the Portuguese Ladies' Open, part of the women's professional European circuit. Peggy Conley, an American, was the winner.
Course Data
Architect: Frank Pennink - Remodelled by Robert Trent Jones in 1985
Teeing off times every 8 minutes
Requirements: Handicap Certificate is required. Situated between Vilamoura and Quinta do Lago, at the heart of one of the Algarve's most developed resort areas. Though opened only in July 1991 the course already shows a considerable degree of maturity as a result of its excellent upkeep.

This course, winding through an immense pine wood, in which fig trees, oaks and almond trees arealso present, is the work of the famous architect Donald Steel. It is a typical inland golf course of the British school, posing a test of the golfer's strategic skills. Its narrow fairways demand accurate driving. The player also has to face several obstacles during the game - lakes and bunkers - as well as fast grass on the greens. The first four holes are known has the toughest of the course so a low overall score is important for an early success

hosting the Portuguese Open in 1992 and 1993 -was vila sol most challenging test when the invigilators were Europe's top professionals. These golf stars heaped praise upon the excellent playing conditions and the quality of its greens, which they considered as good as the best in Europe. Refurbishment to the existing nine holes commenced in May 1999 and included the complete rebuilding of the tees, greens and the old nine holes, several new design features were incorporated with a view to simplifying the strategy of the course and in order to make it more golfer-friendly. This applies especially to holes 8 and 9, the only ones on this loop with water hazards. Also, many of the bunkers have been re-shaped and the smaller greens expanded.

This renovated North course has been joined together with the new 9-hole loop to offer a layout of different character, style and playing quality to the remaining Laguna Course. The two nines of the Millennium Course complement each other handsomely and have strong traits of Martin Hawtree's traditional architectural style.

The terrain is partially open; similar to that of the original 27 holes, whereas the remainder meanders through attractive pine trees so the fairways tend to be narrow, placing a premium on accurate play.
Course Data
Architect: Martin Hawtree
Teeing off times: Every 9 minutes
Pro: Abílio Coelho
Requirements: Handicap Certificate. Laid out on virtually flat terrain covering close to 90 hectares, it includes a series of constructed mounds specially landscaped to emulate the outline of inland hills on the horizon. The series of beautiful lakes and waterfalls also helps to provide an attractive background whilst playing the course.

This is at present the longest 18 holes golf course in Portugal and promises to be a notable course in Europe. Each hole has a minimum of five tees from which to play thus making the course suitable for golfers of all handicap levels. Before playing, it could be advisable to take advantage of the immense putting green of around 2,500 m2 to "feel the green" in that very important end game.
Course Data:
Architect: Arnold Palmer
Opened: 2004
Holes: 18
Par: 72
Length: 6500+ meters
Facilities: Driving Range · Clubhouse · Putting Green · Golf Shop
Restaurant & Bar · Valet Service
Green Fees
(01.11.2004 to 31.10.2005)
18 Holes - € 150.00
Handicap Requirements
Soft Spikes

-Equipment
Golf Buggy: 18 Holes - € 60.00
Electric Trolley: 18 Holes - € 17.50
Manual Trolley: 18 Holes - € 6.00
Callaway Clubs: 18 Holes - € 50.00

-Driving Range
50 balls - € 6.00
Practice Clubs - € 5.00
